A b o u t

Cellist Joshua Morris resides in Montréal, Québec. He is co-founder and Music Director of Ensemble Urbain Musique, a Montréal-based conductorless ensemble specializing in works by composers whose identities are underrepresented in Western classical music. An avid chamber musician, Morris joined the Montréal-based Quatuor Andara in 2024, and previously was cellist of the Milton String Quartet, with which he won the 2017 Fischoff National Chamber Association Grand Prize. Morris is a regular guest artist at the New Brunswick Summer Music Festival, and has additionally collaborated with Michelle Cann, Daniel Ching, Charles-Richard Hamelin, and Violaine Melançon, among others. Morris has also appeared as soloist with the I Medici di McGill Orchestra, the McGill Symphony Orchestra, and was named winner of the Schulich School of Music’s Golden Violin Competition in 2016. Morris is a Doctoral Candidate in Cello Performance at Schulich, studying with Brian Manker.
